Why We Skipped the Turkey and Headed to Turks (And Why You Might Want To, Too!)
A few years ago, my family and I did something a little unexpected for Thanksgiving - we packed our bags and flew to paradise. Instead of mashed potatoes and stuffing, we spent the holiday at Beaches Turks & Caicos, surrounded by turquoise water, endless sunshine, and more family fun than we could’ve imagined.
It’s a place we talked and dreamed about visiting for years, and finally getting to experience it with my husband and two kids made it absolutely magical.
So What’s It Like at Beaches?
It’s relaxing, exciting, and completely stress-free. We stayed in the Caribbean Village, in a spacious suite with a separate bedroom and a living room with a sofa bed, which is perfect for families who want a little breathing room. From the moment we arrived, everything was taken care of.
Our days were spent:
- Sailing Hobie Cats on the calm, crystal-clear waters of Grace Bay
- Lounging on the beach with drinks in hand (mocktails for the kids, cocktails for us)
- Father/son basketball tournaments—my husband and son won, and yes, we’re still hearing about it
- Cornhole competitions, waterslides, and more sun-soaked fun than we could ever fit into one post
- Oh, and the food? Think endless options, no cooking, and absolutely no cleanup. I actually think this was the kids’ favorite part!

We felt totally at ease the entire time. The resort is clean, beautifully maintained, and incredibly family-friendly. And while the setting feels luxurious and tropical, everything is designed with comfort, safety, and convenience in mind.
